She taught school several years in Sanborn and Davison counties and spent the night of the 1888 blizzard with her pupils in the school house west of Letcher.
On April 30, 1892 she was married to John Ford who proceeded her in death April 8, 1936. Five children were born, all surviving: Mrs. Marie Morgan and Julia, James, Eugene and Leo at home. Two granddaughters, Helen Marie & Doris Ann Morgan.
She is survived by two sisters, Mrs. Jennie Nicholson, St. Paul, Minn. and Mrs. Margaret Jones, Duluth, Minn. and one brother, Peter Kavanagh, Valley Springs, S.D.
Funeral services were held in the Catholic church of Letcher July 29 at 9a.m, Father Kielty officiating and burial was made in Calvary Cemetery in Mitchell, beside her husband.
Pallbearers were G.N. Marks, Martin Ford, William Kane, Hugh Morgan, Earl Wilds and Fred Koepke.
