Rivenburg and Catherine Williams as listed on the marriage certificate. They were married by the Justice of the Peace, Edmand Fish, Fishs Eddy, NY. Witnesses: Leslie Irwin and Martha (Alice) (Barber) (Whiting) Irwin. Sam gave his birth place as Greenfield, PA., which does not exist today.
Sam, in late years, indicated that his family name was Wayman, perhaps brought up by the John A. and Catherine Rivenburg family after the death of his parents which was caused by a house fire. This information has not been verified to date.

After the birth of Iva, Libbie suffered a mental breakdown and was institutionalized for nearly the rest of her life at the Binghamton State Hospital, Binghamton, NY. Sam turned the care of his children over to relatives until he set up housekeeping with Eva Douglas. Bessie stated that she was very good to her and John. Iva was raised by Libbie's brother and wife, Floyd and Julia Whiting, as she was only six months old when Sam took her there. They moved to New Milford, PA.; Bessie graduated high school from Susquehanna,PA. After high school, she worked at the Binghamton State Hospital. I wonder if she looked in on her mother or cared for her there. Bessie is my mother.
The 1920 Census shows Sam living in New Milford, PA., with Eva Douglas, his three children (although Iva is listed as "Julia" for some reason) and Eva's son, Stephan Douglas. The 1930 Census shows Sam, Eva and Stephan living on Idle Lane in Chili, Monroe Co., New York.
