He was born October 26, 1918 in Cedar Grove, Wisconsin, one of nine children to Isaac and Fanny DeRoos Claerbout.
On November 8, 1944, he was married to Grace E. Noe in Abilene, Texas; in 1952, they moved to Connersville for residence – Mrs. Claerbout survives.
After graduating from high school and two years of college, he served with the US Army during the Second World War.
He was a faithful member of the First Presbyterian Church of Connersville where he labored in a myriad of capacities. He was self-employed as a builder and carpenter whose exemplary work ever spoke for itself; he was also a long term member of the American Legion Post #1, an avid reader of histories and biographies and a fan of the Green Bay Packers.
He is survived by his wife of sixty-eight years, two children, David (Marcia) Claerbout of Carmel, Indiana and Mark (Patty) Claerbout of Bloomington, Indiana, a daughter-in-law, Karen Claerbout of Wellington, Florida, ten grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren; he was also blessed with many nephews, nieces and cousins.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Paul Claerbout, who died May 2009, five brothers and a sister.
Funeral services will be conducted at 3 PM Friday, November 16, 2012 at Miller, Moster, Robbins Funeral Home with former pastor and dear friend Rev. E. Duane Aelick, officiating; burial in Dale Cemetery with military rites preformed by the Fayette County Veterans Council – family and friends may call at the Funeral Home from 1 PM until the time of the service; they may also visit anytime online at millermosterrobbins.com
