Albert Lionel Gosselin, 94, of Matthews, N.C., died Saturday, May 9, 2009, peacefully surrounded by his family and friends.

He served with the U.S. Army during World War II stationed in Portland, Maine, where he served in the Harbor Defense Group.

Mr. Gosselin was an active volunteer for Hospice in Rochester, N.H., and was also involved in the Foster Grandparent Association. Prior to moving to Matthews in 2006, where he lived with his daughter, Linda, Albert had been a longtime resident of Somersworth, N.H. Mr. Gosselin was a member of St. John Neumann Catholic Church.

He was preceded in death by his beloved "Redhead" Irene, his wife of 63 years, and his grandson, Jeffrey Daudelin.

Mr. Gosselin is survived by his children, Albert (Carole) Gosselin, Ronald (Diane) Gosselin, Linda (James) Bateman, and Donna (Kim) Beedy; grandchildren, Rob and Brian Daudelin, Tricia Root, Beth Doyle, Craig, Christopher and Kevin Gosselin, Keith De-Lin, Christopher and Scott Daigle and Nicholas Bateman; and seven great-grandchildren.

A Mass of Christian burial will be Saturday, May 30, at 11 a.m. at Holy Trinity Church, High Street, Somersworth, N.H. Burial with Military Honors will take place in St. Charles Cemetery, Dover, N.H. Tasker Funeral Home, 621 Central Avenue, Dover, N.H., is handling arrangements.
