Nellie was the definition of a hard worker. She was committed her whole life to taking care of her family and she did have a lot of family. She knew how to live off the land, such as: farming, fishing, hunting, raising livestock, and canning foods. If you were family, you knew her door was always open for you, even if you wronged her, she couldn't let that stop her from saying, "Yes, you can stay here until you get a place". She loved all her children and treated every grandchild like it was her own child. That's why I miss and love her so much. The saddest part about her passing was, when she died, it seemed the rest of the family died as well. No more Easter egg hunts, family dinners, or any other get together's unless it's a funeral. She was the rock under our foundation and sadly, the foundation broke the day she died. She is missed by so many.

Nellie Elizabeth Willis, 72, of Cleveland and a native of Scottsboro, Alabama passed away early Sunday Morning in a local hospital. She was the daughter of the late Sam and Nancy E. "Rosie" Holcomb. She attended Unity Church of God. She was preceded in death by three daughters and two sons: Peggy Bean, Ella Louise Willis, Esta May Willis, Lloyd Johnson and Odell Willis.
Survivors include her husband: O.C. Willis of Cleveland; Daughters: Dorothy Buckner, Judy Young, Ruby Oden and Flossie Thomas of Cleveland, Doris Johnson and Cathleen Officer of Dalton, GA.; Sons: Ronald Willis, Frank Willis and Roy Johnson of Cleveland. Paul Willis and Harvey Willis of Dalton, GA.; 45 Grandchildren; 26 Great Grandchildren; Sister: Birdie Roman of Scottsboro, AL.; Brother: Jeff Holcomb of Cleveland.

Funeral Services will be at 2pm Wednesday in the Wildwood Chapel of Buckner-Rush Funeral Homes with Yules Simpson officiating. Interment will be in Samples Memorial Cemetery.

Nellie's death date wasn't added to her tombstone until O.C. passed away. The person that added the death date to the tombstone put the wrong year on there. She passed away in 1994.

Nellie had one other brother not listed below. His name was Paul Holcomb.
