Mr. Catron was born on Aug.6, 1940 in Carthage, MO to Wayne and Helen Catron and was a life long resident. He was active in high school sports and graduated from Carthage High School in 1958. He earned a teaching degree from Missouri Southern State College, Joplin, MO and later earned a masters degree from Pittsburg State University, Pittsburg, KS. He was employed by the Carthage R-9 district for 25 years, the last 19 spent as a health instructor at the Junior High. While in high school he took a preacher's training course from Forrest G. Bailey, minister of the First Christian Church in Carthage and began a part-time preaching ministry with the Christian Church in Wyandotte, OK. Later he was the minister at the Church of Christ in Avilla, MO and short term interim minister at the High Street Church of Christ in Neosho. He died Jan 18, 2002 at his home after a two year illness of Lou Gehrig's disease.
Funeral services were held at 10 AM Monday, Jan. 21 at First Christian Church, Carthage with burial following in Park Cemetery, Carthage.
