Harvey A. Broward passed away peacefully Thursday morning, Nov. 15, 2012, during his 82nd year. Service: 11 a.m. Monday at the grave in Mount Olivet Cemetery, Rev. Donnie Voss of Travis Avenue Baptist Church officiating. A life resident of Fort Worth, Harvey was born on May 16, 1930, the son of Alfred and Mary Elizabeth Brannon Broward. He graduated from R.L. Paschal High School where he played catcher on the baseball team. He enjoyed sports, especially baseball and golf. He was recruited by a minor league baseball team and worked as a caddy at Colonial Country Club's very first golf tournament. Harvey attended NTAC and UNT, majoring in math and physics. Between college years, he served in the United States Marine Corps. After college and marriage to Betty Ann Davis, he worked as a computer programmer and systems analyst. He was also a scout leader and umpire for Little League baseball. He was a devoted husband and faithful father, a longtime member of Travis Avenue Baptist Church and will be missed. Survivors: In addition to his daughter, Sherry Ross and her husband, Charles, and son, Gordon Broward, Harvey is survived by his grandchildren, Lauren Broward McAuley, Tyler Broward and Madison Broward; sisters, Martha Riddle, Nancy Sheffield and Elizabeth Scott and her husband, Ray; sweet nieces and nephews; and special friends, Karen and Gary Dozier.
