Dr. Wolcott was born May 4, 1915, in Buenos Aires, Argentina, to missionary parents, the late Maynard Lawson and Edna Matilda (Thompson) Wolcott.His education included Asbury College,B.A.; Hartford Seminary Foundation, M.A.; Drew University, B.Div.; Oxford University, England, Doctor of Philosophy.

He was a United Methodist missionary to India from 1945 to 1950, an esteemed Professor of Missions at Scarritt College, Nashville, Tennessee, from 1953-1980, and served additional missionary assignments inZaire and Ecuador. Dr. Wolcott was a frequent conference speaker and lecturer. Author of over a dozen books on biblical studies, theology, poetry, and Christian biography, he also published a number of articles in various scholarly journals and religious magazine. Several of his works were co-authored with his wife, Carolyn.

Dr. Wolcott and his wife traveled widely in England, Europe, Asia, Africa, and South America. Dr. Wolcott's studies, residence and travels made him a linguist in numerous languages, including Greek, Hebrew, Hindi, French, German, and Spanish.

Surviving family members include wife, Carolyn Mueller Wolcott of Fairfield Glade; daughter, Mrs. Bruce Vaughan of Nashville;grandchildren, Tifanie Wright and Darryl Vaughan; and great-grandchildren, Chase and Morgan Wright; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by brother, Drew Wolcott, and sister, Narda O'Neal.
