DAVENPORT - Funeral services for Theresa E. Baker, of Davenport, will be 1 p.m. Saturday at Bethel AME Church, 323 West 11th Street, Davenport, with Pastor Steve Perkins and Dr. Melvin L. Grimes officiating. Burial will be in Oakdale Cemetery. She departed this life Sunday evening at Davenport Good Samaritan Center. Visitation will be noon until service time at the church. Orr's Mortuary is assisting the family with the arrangements. Theresa was born December 25, 1927, in Enid, Oklahoma, the eldest of eight children to Ambrose and Lessie (Norman) Elliott. In her early childhood the family moved to West Des Moines, Iowa. As an adult she relocated her family to Davenport, Iowa. She was employed by the Oscar Mayer Corporation for more than 22 years where she was rewarded for her outstanding attendance. In her spare time Theresa enjoyed playing bingo, taking care of her grandchildren and cooking. In lieu of flowers memorials maybe made to the Davenport Good Samaritan Center, 700 Waverly Road, Davenport, IA 52804 or Genesis Hospice, 2535 Maple Crest Road, Bettendorf, IA 52722. Preceding her in death were her parents, a sister, Irene Smith, brothers, Ambrose Elliott, Jr., Dallas Leon Elliott, Ben Elliott and Shedrick (Russell) Elliott. She leaves not to mourn but to celebrate her life four children, Leslie (Tyrone) Orr and Randall (Deborah) Baker, Davenport, Iowa, Kristyne Baker, Omaha, Neb., and Reginald Baker, Iowa City, Iowa; five grandchildren, Le (Renee) Orr, Mansfield, Texas, Farrah (Jarvis Holliday, Sr.) Baker, Davenport, Iowa, Tyrone Orr II, Alpharetta, Ga., and Derreck Baker and Desiree Baker, Davenport, Iowa; five great-grandchildren, Asa Baker, Blair Orr, Cameron Orr, Victor Howard, and Jarvis Holliday, Jr.; sisters, Doretha Townsell, Des Moines, Iowa, and Yvonne (James) Crumb, Houston, Texas; sister-in-law, Sandra Elliott, West Des Moines, Iowa; brother-in-law, Willie Smith, Kansas City, Mo.; and a host of nieces and nephews.
