Carl Yens, age 85, of Silverwood, MI passed away Sunday, November 18, 2012 at home with his family by his side. Funeral services will be 11 A.M. Wednesday, November 21, 2012 at the Avram Funeral Home in Mayville, MI with Pastor Ron Hutchinson officiating. The family will receive visitors from 1 – 8 P.M. Tuesday, November 20, 2012 at the Avram Funeral Home and 10 A.M. until time of the service Wednesday. Internment will take place at Rich Township Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the Family Discretionary Fund. Carl was born July 20, 1927 in Silverwood, MI, the son of Henry and Christina (Zier) Yens. He was a life long resident of Silverwood, loved sharing good times with family and friends and also enjoyed farming, dairy and beef cattle. Carl is survived by two daughters; JoAnn (Peter) Franks of Lake Orion, MI, Peggy (Danny) Ulfig of Cass City, MI, one son; Carl Frederick Yens of Silverwood, MI, six grandchildren; Bryan Franks, Cindy (Dominic) Battiston, Shelly (Nathon) Klein, Paul and Corey Ulfig, Christina Thornton, one great grandson; Gavin, three great granddaughters; Ellie, Ashley, Alexis, one great granddaughter on the way, and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by four brothers; Henry (Matilda) Yens, Alex (Lillian) Yens, Casper (Avis) Yens, Frederick Yens, five sisters; Sophie (Cecil) Watson, Christina (Floyd) Ross, Anna (Alfred) Lapratt, Elizabeth (Francis) Jacques, Amilia (William) Nowakowski.
