Mrs. Sophie Chmiel
   Mrs Sophie Chmiel, 147 Nicholson St. Wilkes-Barre Twp., died Wednesday afternoon in Wyoming Valley Hospital.
   The former Sophie Slupcinski, she was born in Poland and came to America in 1911. She lived at 354 S. Meade St., until moving to Wilkes-Barre Twp., eight years ago. She was a member of St. Mary's Church of the Maternity, Park Ave. Her husband, John, died in 1951.
   Suviving are children, Frank, Trailwood; John, Wilkes-Barre, Mrs. Lottie Delikat, Wilkes-Barre Twp.; Mrs. Josephine Gavis, Wilkes-Barre; sisters, Mrs. Victoria Ciszek, Hartford, Conn.; Josephine, Poland; three grandchildren and two great grandchildren.
   Funeral will be held from the Jendrzejewski Funeral Home, 21 N. Meade St., Wilkes-Barre, Saturday, with a Mass of Christian Burial in St. Mary's. Interment, parish cemetery, West Wyoming. Friends may call Friday 2 to 4 and 7 to 9.
