JOHN C. BORDEN, RUMSON-John Chaloner Borden, 59, of West River Rd. and New York City died in Nairobi, Kenya, Africa, of a heart ailment Friday April 8, 1960.
He was chairman of Borden Mills, a textile firm of New York City and Kingsport, Tenn.
Mr. Borden was accompanied by his wife, Mrs. Judith Marvin Borden, and their son, John C. Borden Jr. They had completed a six-week motion picture safari.
He had been a member of the board of the board of the Manattan Co. before it was merged with the Chase National Bank. Mr. Borden also was a member of the boards of the Monmouth Medical Center in Long Branch and the League for the Hard of Hearing. Mr. Borden board chairman of the Manhattan School of Music, His clubs were the Racquet and Mechants in New York, the Rumson Country and Sea Bright Beach.
Besides his widow and son, he is servived by a daughter, Mrs. Linda M. McKean of this place; two brothers Arthur Bradley Borden of New York and William Howard Borden of this place; a sister Mrs. Doris B. Leonard, also of this place, and five grandchildren. Memorial services will be held Thursday at 3 p.m., in St. George's by-the-Sea Episcopal Church, Rumson. Rev. Canon-George A. Robertshaw, will officiate. Burial will be held in Woodlawn Cemetery, New York City, under the direction of the Adams Memorial Home, Red Bank, N. J.
