The daughter of Earl Bryant and Rosetta Mae "Rosie" Hagen, Ruth was 1 of 13 children. She was born in Grafton, Illinois and moved from Jerseyville to South Roxana in Madison County around 1954.

Ruth married Charles M. Antrobus on 29 Jun 1956 at the First General Baptist Church in East Alton, Illinois.

Ruth was expecting the couple's first child when she became ill with what was thought to be a cold on Sunday, 02 Mar 1958. She had almost recovered from the cold when she took a sudden and unexpected turn for the worse on Thursday, 06 Mar 1958. She was taken to the St. Anthony's Hospital the following day. She died there 2 days later.

Ruth was survived by her husband, Charles; her mother and father; 5 sisters; and 4 brothers.

She was preceded in death by 1 brother, Paul, who died 3 years before her.

Visitation was held at Marks Mortuary in Wood River on 10 Mar 1958. Funeral services were conducted at 1 p.m. the following afternoon at Gospel Tabernacle in Wood River.
