Aaron was the son of James Dale Hammond and Eliza Ellen Lamon. His mother died in 1918 during the Spanish flu epidemic. His father later remarried.

Aaron married Margaret M. "Maggie" Allen on 11 Mar 1930 in Madison, Illinois. They were the parents of 4 children.

Aaron worked at General Steel Casting in Granite City, Illinois. He was employed there for 25 years and retired in 1965.

Aaron was ill for the final 2 years of his life. He died at Jewish Hospital in St. Louis, Missouri at the age of 75 years, 11 months and 4 days.

He was survived by his wife, Maggie; 2 sons; 2 daughters; 10 grandchildren; 2 sisters; and 5 brothers.

Visitation was held on 15 Oct 1975 at Marks Mortuary in Wood River. Funeral services were conducted there at 11 a.m. the following morning.

Aaron's wife, Maggie, passed away in 1988 and was buried next to him.
