The daughter of William "Wilson" Stagner and Ella "Lorraine" Willis, Ethel had a twin brother named Guy Wayne Stagner. The family lived in West Frankfort in Franklin County, Illinois.

Ethel's twin, Guy, died shortly before their first birthday.

Ethel married Adrain Deneen Angleton on 21 Apr 1958 in South Roxana, Madison County, Illinois. They were the parents of 3 children. A daughter, Karen Renee, was born in 1960; a son, Darrell Wayne, was added to the family in 1964; and another daughter, Deana Michelle, arrived in 1968.

Ethel was a homemaker and a member of American Breweriana Association of America.

Adrain worked for McDonnell Douglas Aircraft for 37 years. He retired in 1995. He later worked for Herlacher Angleton Associates LLC.

Adrain also was a member of the United States Army Reserves for 38 years. He was the commander of the 254th Maintenance Company in St. Louis and the 3/340th Battalion in Quincy, Illinois. A lieutenant colonel by the time of his retirement, his last military assignments was at Fort Chafee, Arkansas during Desert Storm.

At the time of her death at Alton Memorial Hospital, Ethel was 62 years, 7 months and 18 days old.

She was survived by her husband, Adrain; her mother, Lorraine Stagner of South Roxana; 1 son Darrell Angleton; 1 daughter, Deana Griggs; 4 grandchildren; 2 sisters, Laura Evans and Sharron Turner, both of Bethalto, Illinois; and 1 brother, Kenny Stagner of South Roxana.

Ethel was preceded in death by her father; 1 daughter, Karen Angleton-Kelley; and 2 brothers, Paul and Guy Stanger.

Visitation was held from 4 to 8 p.m. on 07 Jun 2001 at Marks Mortuary in Wood River, Illinois. Funeral services were conducted there at 1 p.m. the following afternoon.

The family requested that memorials, if desired, be made to the 5 A's Animal Shelter.

Ethel's husband, Adrain, passed away in 2009 and was buried next to her.

Children: 2 daughters, 1 son.
