Josie "Lavern" Stone Cannedy, 86, passed away Wednesday, November 21, 2012, in Bowie, Texas.

Funeral service will be held 10:00 a.m. Saturday, November 24, 2012, at the Central Baptist Church of Bowie with Brother Paul Henderson officiating.

Burial will follow at Elmwood Cemetery in Bowie.

The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Friday, November 23, 2012, at the White Family Funeral Home.

Arrangements are entrusted to the White Family Funeral Home of Bowie.

Lavern was born March 27, 1926 in Vera, Texas to Dewey David and Mary Elizabeth (Hatter) Stone. She married R.C. Cannedy on April 28, 1944. To this union two children were born, daughter, Sharon and son, Terry. Lavern worked in retail sales for Perkins Timberlake, McClurkans, Stork Land, and retired from Dillards. She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Bowie and a former member of the Central Baptist Church of Bowie. Lavern was a loving mother, sister, and grandmother.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Dewey and Mary Stone; two brothers, Elmer D. Stone and Wilburn Stone; sister, Johnnie Lary; and son-in-law, Sherwood McKinley.

Lavern is survived by her daughter, Sharon McKinley Morgan and husband, Lynn; son, Terry Don Cannedy and wife, Lawana; six grandchildren, Mark McKinley of Dallas, Lachelle McKinley Floyd of Bowie, Amy McKinley Henson and husband, Jason of Keller, Leah McKinley Brown and husband, Randall of Bowie, Kiley Cannedy Fallis and husband, Jeremy of Bowie, Kareece Cannedy Fallis and husband, Justin of Bowie; nine great grandchildren, Connor and Chandler Floyd, Dylan, Ryan, and Alexa Henson, Nate, Eli, Jacob, and Kendall Fallis; brother, Gerald Stone of Wichita Falls; two sisters, Barbara Douglas of Wichita Falls and Val Stokes of Conroe.
