The cemetery is also known as
Bridges Creek Washington Family Cemetery

Cemetery located on a wooded tract of land once referred to as the "Lands of Wakefield", owned by George Washington's father and grandfather. Portions of these lands, 200 acres on the south side of Bridges Creek were patented by John Washington in 1662 and 1664. Later acquisitions of land would follow in the Washington family.

The "Blenheim Plantation" land was patented by Henry Washington in 1728. Additional acquisition of lands adjoining were later made, that became a part of the "Lands of Wakefield". The land encompassing the plantation became owned by Augustine Washington I (1694-1743),

There is no Washington Family Cemetery at Blenheim. Possibly buried at Bridge's Creek. However, there is no proof of this. There were many unmarked graves and unknowns in the vault when the cemetery was restored in the 1930's
