According to records, Elisha Ennis on 10 Mar 1843 homestead the NE 1/4 of the NW 1/4 & the SE 1/4 of the NW 1/4, of Section 6, Township 16 N, Range 27 W. 'Martin Johnson' is located on Elisha's homestead.

The Historical Society recently published Madison County Cemetery Book #11 in Dec 2012. Here is an excerpt from Book #11, pg 109: Martin Johnson (also called Mt. Pleasant, Martinville, Cedar, & Evergreen) is a very old cemetery & has many, many graves marked only w/fieldstones having no names inscribed on them. It is located in the middle of a pasture on a hill. It is fenced & was cleaned up about 2006, but has no routine maintenance. Some of the earliest known graves are 1847 - 1865.

I agree this could be the burial location of Zachariah. This seems very feasible since this old cemetery is located on property homestead by Elisha Ennis in 1843.

Often confused with a wife of Zachariah, Elizabeth Ennis, mother of John Ennis, Nancy Ennis Terry and Barbara Ennis Terry, was a sister to Zachariah Ennis. They traveled with Zachariah Ennis and extended family when they moved westward out of Burke Co., NC. Elizabeth, according to long held family tradition, never married the father of her children. Zachariah Ennis' son Elisha Ennis will marry the daughter of Barbara Ennis Terry (Matilda Terry Ennis).
