GREENSBORO - MRS. ELMIRA ASHWORTH

Mother of Dr. W.C. Ashworth passes after lingering illness.

Mrs. Elmira Ashworth, 66 years old, mother of Dr. W.C. Ashworth, of this city; died at 8:20 O'Clock yesterday evening after an illness of six years. Paralysis caused her death.

The remains were carried to Asheboro this morning on an early train. The funeral was conducted there this morning at 11 O'Clock from the Methodist Episcopal Church, by Rev. J. Ed Thompson, the pastor.

Interment followed in the city burial ground for the church.

Many friends and relatives of the deceased went to Asheboro with the remains, this morning.

The deceased had resided in Greensboro with her only child, Dr. W.C. Ashworth, for several years, and had many friends here.

She was a consecrated Christian.

Mrs. Ashworth was the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Enoch Brookshire, who formerly lived in Randolph County, NC.

1900 US Federal Census, P. Elmira Brookshire Ashworth, was living with her Mother and both listed as widows.

Per her death certificate she was married to an Ashworth.
Informant on DC was her son, Dr. W.C. Ashworth, of Glenwood.
