Lorene M. Lawson of Nampa, age 85, passed away peacefully on November 20, 2012.

Born October 23, 1927 in Tuscumbia, Alabama, Lorene had a childhood full of scripture, music, play, and hard work. "I was picking cotton before I had my first pair of shoes", was a story she would tell, not to boast, but to motivate.

At the young age of 15, Lorene married 17-year-old Jesse Lawson on August 31, 1943. After WWII, Lorene, Jesse, and their young daughter headed west across the country in a Model A Ford, settling near San Jose, California.

In 1978, Lorene and Jesse moved to Parma to be with the children and grandchildren that had migrated to Idaho years earlier. They later moved to Nampa. Jesse died in 1999; their lifelong marriage was an inspiration to all.

Lorene was always optimistic, forever finding a bright side to any situation. She was very wise, with a sharp sense of humor. Her guidance was always honest and reliable, her patience with children was remarkable, and she made an impact on everyone lucky enough to have known her.

Lorene is survived by her three daughters, Glenda Williams (Ron), Vickie Sigler (Martin), Margie Prickett (Doug), and son, Jesse Lawson, Jr. (Parvin); nine grandchildren, and 14 great-grandchildren.

A celebration of her life will be held on Saturday, November 24, 2012 at 2:00 p.m. at Nampa Funeral Home, Yraguen Chapel, 415 12th Avenue South, Nampa. Private burial will be in the Canyon Hill Cemetery, Caldwell.
