Roger Harold Cox Sr. died peacefully Tuesday May 1st, 2012, surrounded by friends and his family at Franklin Woods Hospital in Johnson City.

He rose through the ranks of the Johnson City Fire Department to become Assistant Chief after serving the community for 33 years. He was also owner of Cox Fire Extinguisher Service.

He was proceeded in death by his mother and father, Alberta Cox and Carl Vernon "Cocky" Cox Sr.; as well as by his older brother, Carl Vernon Cox Jr. and by his beloved identical twin brother, Conway Carroll Cox.

He is survived by the light of his life, his wife of 53 years Linda Burchfield Cox; daughters, Christi Calbot, of Fort Myers, FL, Carla Snyder, of Naples, FL; and his only son Roger Harold "Buzz" Cox Jr., of Cincinnati, OH; along with his two wonderful granddaughters.

Roger was an avid golfer. He was a Mason at the Rhea Lodge #47 in Jonesborough, Tn. He was a loving husband and father. He was a best friend and advisor to many and took the greatest pleasure in making people smile.

A graveside service is scheduled for Saturday, May 5, 2012 at 1:30 p.m. in the Monte Vista Memorial Park under the direction of Dr. Wayne Emery. A procession is to leave Morris-Baker Funeral Home at 1:15 p.m. to the cemetery.

The family is to receive friends from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. on Friday, May 4, 2012, at the Morris-Baker Funeral Home.

Honorary pallbearers are Ronnie Hammett, Mike Nelson, Butch Snyder, Mike Calbot, Terry Cox, Roger Cox, Tuffy Parker, Harry Parker and Lynn Crowe.
