Carl Lee Burchfield, 91, of Pine Ridge Road, Johnson City, died Friday, Dec. 31, 2004, at the NHC Healthcare Center. A native of Mitchell County, N.C., he was the son of the late William and Betty Hyder Burchfield.

He was a retired engineer for the Clinchfield Railroad. A member of the Brotherhood of Firemen and Locomotive Engineers, he was an avid hunter, fisherman and member of the Old Soldiers Baseball Team at Mt. Home, and was of the Baptist faith. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister and three brothers.

Survivors include, his wife, June Dye Burchfield, of the home; two daughters, Carole Lee (and husband Harry "Muggy" Parker, and Linda B. (and husband, Roger H. Sr.) Cox, all of Johnson City; a brother, Conley Burchfield of Elizabethton, six grandchildren, Harry Parker, Jr. Havana, Fla., Robin Parker Humphrey, and Carroll "Tuffy" Parker, both of Johnson City, Christi Calbot, Fort Myers, Fla., Carla Snyder, Naples, Fla., and Roger "Buzz" Cox, Knoxville, five great grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.

A graveside service is scheduled for 2 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 2, 2005, at the Monte Visat Memorial Park under the direction of the Rev. Scott Thompson.
