She retired from RCA in Monticello after 17 years.
She was a graduate of New Waverly High School and a member of Rockfield Presbyterian Church. Velma enjoyed playing cards with her euchre club.
Surviving are daughters, Nancy Nulf, Kokomo, and Diana Hershberger and husband Tony, Logansport; half-sister, Marcella Murphy, Sweetser; three grandchildren, John Wynn, Kokomo, Tina Wynn, Kokomo, and Kelly Henry and wife Kristi, New Waverly; and five great-grandchildren, Scotty Wynn, Brayden Wynn, Kokomo, Kayleigh, Kassidy and Kyle Henry, New Waverly.
She was preceded in death by two brothers, Nevin Howard and Charles Howard; and one sister, Mildred Bowman,
