Mark Steven Scott was last seen alive on Tuesday, April 20, 1972 in the Heights neighborhood of Houston. He was lured by Elmer Henley and David Brooks to 925 Schuler St: the then-address of serial killer Dean Corll. The following morning, Scott was strangled to death by Henley and his body buried at High Island Beach in Galveston County - a location where six other victims of Corll were to be found buried in 1973. (A seventh victim, Joseph Lyles, would be found buried very close to High Island Beach in 1983.)

Despite the admission to Scott having been buried at High Island Beach by both Brooks and Henley, Mark Scott's remains have never been found. Following Hurricane Ike in 2008, the section of beach where Corll's known victims were buried remains submerged beneath sea level.
