Funeral services for Elayne J. Severson, 93, of Chamberlain, SD will be 10:00 am Friday, November 23, 2012 at the Water of Life Assembly of God Church in Chamberlain with burial in the Riverview Cemetery at Chamberlain. Visitation will be Thursday beginning at 6:00 pm with a prayer service at 7:00 pm at the Water of Life Assembly of God Church in Chamberlain.

Elayne June Allen was born June 24, 1919 to Harley and Amy (Morgan) Allen near Barnesville, MN. She attended grade school and high school in Barnesville, MN graduating as Salutatorian in 1937. She worked in the Doctor's office as a Doctor's and Dental assistant in Barnesville, MN until 1941. Elayne was united in marriage to Clifford Sigfred Severson on November 29, 1941 at the Assembly of God Church in Barnesville, MN. Together they farmed in Clay County, Minnesota for three years and lived in Barnesville, MN until they moved to Riverdale, ND in 1961 and then to Pierre, SD in 1963. Elayne stayed at home to raise their children. In 2005 Cliff and Elayne moved to Chamberlain, SD to be near their daughter, Pamela. Elayne loved the Lord and her family and she enjoyed doing embroidery. She was very active in teaching Sunday School, Missionettes, the Women's Ministry in the church and she was a great prayer warrior. Everyone who knew her loved her. She made the best homemade bread in the world. Elayne and Clifford were deeply in love for more than 70 years. Elayne passed away on November 18, 2012 at Sanford Care Center in Chamberlain at the age of 93 years. Survivors include a daughter Pamela Sherman and husband Michael of Chamberlain, SD, son Lou Severson and wife Jackie of Fargo, ND, son Lonny Severson of Hooper, Utah; six siblings Monafay Anderson of Barnesville, MN, Bernie Allen of Walnut Creek, CA, Norma Asplund and husband Kenneth of St. Augustine, FL, Janice Hastie and husband Lyle Thompson of Olympia, WA, Jack Allen and wife Pat of Phoenix, AZ, Sharon Bjerken of Moorhead, MN; ten grandchildren, fourteen great grandchildren and two great great grandchildren. Preceding her in death were husband Clifford, parents, son Dale, sisters LaVeda Johnson and Amy Hildebrandt, and two great grandchildren.
