Funeral services for Mrs. Florence Steltz Hale, resident of this city for a number of years until her present marriage to L. P. Hale, who died Tuesday at her home at Daytona Beach, following a six week's illness, were held at the St. James Methodist Church yesterday afternoon at 2 o'clock, Rev. L. W. Lowe officiating, the Pythian Sisters being in charge of the impressive service at the graveside. The interment being in Oak Hill East Cemetery.
Born in Darlington, S.C., in 1873, the deceased was married three times.
Besides her husband six children survive. They are James Creekman, Norfolk, Va., Mrs. Emma Crawford, DeLand; Roy Steltz, Jacksonville, Walter Steltz, St. Petersburg; George Steltz, Jacksonville, and Elmer Steltz, California. There are also nine grandchildren.
All her children had visited her bedside before the end came, except Elmer Steltz, who is somewhere at sea with the U.S. Fleet and could not be reached. (Times-Herald Obituary dtd Friday, 2 Sep 1932.)
