Funeral rites for Capt. Emile Carre, 72, native of France and riverman of the Sabine shipping district for about 20 years, who died at his home, 2496 Forsythe street at 5:30 o'clock Monday afternoon will be held Tuesday afternoon at 5 o'clock at the Pipkin and Brulin funeral chapel. Rev. George Cameron, rector of St. Mark's Episcopal church, will officiate. Interment will be in Magnolia cemetery. Capt. Carre came to the United States at the age of 23, and shortly afterward came to Beaumont where he became associated in river trade. He was the owner of several river boats, and operated the Carre shipyards, near the Magnolia refinery. Much of his work was with the recovery of sunken logs, which were sawed at the Carre shipyards and sold to sawmills. Surviving are seven sons, Albert of Port Neches, George of Vidor and Battis, Frank, Archie, James and Paul Carre, all of Beaumont; three daughters, Mrs. Lillie St. Aubin of Beaumont, Mrs. Marie Moore of Galveston and Miss Cleofine Carre of Vidor, and a stepdaughter, Mrs. Neal Carr of Beaumont, and 14 grandchildren. Pallbearers have been designated as Sam Thiebdeaux, Charley Tiche, F.M. Beaumont, Paul Costaramone, August Snider and Tom Sheffield. Neal Carr, C. Anclet, John Barker and Joe Choates have been designated honorary pallbearers.
