George W. Phillips was the son of Thomas Phillips and Catherine Southward Phillips. George had 3 sisters, they were Lucinda, Christina, and Eliza. He had 6 brothers. They were Samuel, William, Jacob, John, Mcdaniel, and Thomas Phillips. The Phillips and Shaffer Farms were right next together, Their properities joined. In Marion County Il East of Brubaker Illinois. Their first child born was a daughter named Rosetta, born April 6 1862. In 1n July 1865, George was appointed Guardian of his 3 younger siblings. They were Mcdaniel. Thomas and Eliza. His father had died and his mother was still alive but he was still appointed their guardian. Second child born to George and Sarah was Alfred Sheridan Phillips. Born Sept. 1865. Their third child was born 14 years later, Ina May Phillips in 1879. and their last child was born 1883.George W. Phillips Junior. George lost his wife by a apparent Suicide. Died on Dec. 5 1887. The death was very questionable. He had a illigetiment son born 5 days after Sarah's death His name was Harry Hugh Phillips born December 10 1887. George lived his life out with wife Mary and is buried in a unmarked grave in Carrigan Cemetary. George and Sarah have 2 grandaughters buried in carrigan Cemetary. They were Minnie Phillips, daughter of Sheridan Phillips and Lillie A. Lewis Phillips and Golda May Lee Walker, daughter of Rosetta Phillips Lee and husband Samuel Richard Lee.
