An Old Citizen Dead
Grandma Mead, one of the pioneers of Shannon County, died last Friday and was interred Sunday. She was reputed to be the oldest inhabitant of the county, being 95 years and 6 months of age at the time of her death, and had live in Shannon County during a period of fifty years. She was a daughter of Kentucky's greatest statesman, Henry Clay.
Mrs. Mead was a consistent member of the Baptist church and died as she had lived, in the hope of a glorious resurrection. She was the mother of Parson John Mead, who lives in Moore township, and with whom she resided.
The Wave extends condolence to her relatives and many friends. She has "crossed over the River and rests under the shade of the trees." Peace to her ashes.
