in the 1870 census, Edward can be found in Port Madison, Kitsap Co., Washington, where he worked as a carpenter. In 1880 he was a ship builder in Mason Co.

In the 1885 Census, Edward was in King Co., where he continued ship building.

According to his King Co., Washington death register, Edward died of a cerebral hemorrhage. He was the son of Nicholas Cheasty and Ellen Scanlan. At the time of his death he was a draughtsman.
