Roy Torrence, 67 years, 8 months and 22
days well known and highly respected
resident of this community passed away
at his home northwest of Frankfort,
Kansas on Saturday,February 12, 1955.
He was born May 20, 1887 on a farm near
Axtell, Kansas the son of Joseph and
Sarah Ellen Torrence. He had been in
ill health for several years.
Mr. Torrence was a successful farmer, living
in the Axtell community many years before
moving to the present farm home near
Winifred, Kansas.
He was married to Nina M. Carver on August
12, 1920 and two this union two daughters
were born, Evelyn and Nila Jean.
He was a member of the Presbyterian Church
and Leo McMinimy Post No. 181 of the
American Legion being a Veteran of World
War I.
He is survived by his wife, Nina, of the home;
two daughters, Mrs. Evelyn Steel, Springfield,
Missouri and Mrs.Nila Jean Gale, Springfield,
Colorado; four grandchildren; two sisters,
Miss, Ona Torrence, Boulder, Colorado and
Mrs. Beulah Oldham, Los Angles, California,
one brother, Harley Torrence, Los Angles,
California.
Funeral services were held by Reverend C.H.
Rumbaugh at the Presbyterian Church at
2:00 p.m.
Burial was in the Frankfort Cemetery,
Frankfort, Kansas.
