Son of Amon and Elizabeth Wells. He was Burlington County Coronor for a few years. He married Matilda C. Harkins on October 29, 1862 in Philadelphia, PA. (Philadelphia City Archives - 1962 - Page 265) Their children were John, Thomas, Mary Ann, William, Amon and Elizabeth. He served in the Civil War as a Private in Company E, 14th Pennsylvania (Three Month) Volunteer Infantry. He was struck and killed by lightning while pulling up the anchor in Atlantic City, NJ.
