Marie Vandale was born February 7, 1842 in St. Paul, Marion County, Oregon to Louis & Catherine (Porteuse) Vandale. She would marry not long after her seventeenth birthday to Antoine "Tunish" Delore on June 22, 1859 in St Louis, Marion County, Oregon. Both Antoine and Marie's fathers would be there to witness this union, both men were French Canadians. To this union would be born four children that we know of. Perrie and Noemie Marie are both baptized and mentioned in the old church records. Louise Alice, Noeme Marie and Joseph "Long Joe" are all found in the 1870 census, but both Perrie and mother Marie Vandale Delore are not listed. Marie Vandale Delore passed away May 13, 1869.



Record books of St. Louis parish, p 4: "S-12. Mary Vandale. The fifteenth of may eighteen hundred and sixty nine, we the undersigned parish priest of St Louis have buried in the grave-yard of foresaid parish the corpse of Mary Vandale, wife of Antoine Delart, deceased on the thirteenth of this month and year, Witness: Jean Bte. Vandale, Garvey. s/G.C. Chibau, pr."
