Zelma was the mother of four daughters. Three survive; Opal V Brooks Robinson (George), Emma L Brooks Coats (G. Euel), and Margaret S Brooks Hatcher Blaies (Hershel H Hatcher, Herb Blaies).

In addition to daughter Shelby Jean Brooks, she was preceded in death by son-in-law Hershel Hollen Hatcher.
