Evelyn Bolner (1915-2007)

Evelyn Jean Bolner, 92, of Flatwoods, died Saturday morning at Boyd County Nursing and Rehabilitation following an extended illness.

Jean was born March 3, 1915, and was the mother of Bob Bishop of North Carolina, Vernon Dale Capps of Kentucky, and Raylean Sadler of Huntington.

She enjoyed painting and poetry, playing the piano, gardening, bowling and cooking for her friends and neighbors.

Jean had requested that there be no funeral services, only loving memories.

Arrangements were handled by Preston Family Funeral Home.


Bio

Born Opal Evelyn Jackson in Black River, Missouri, daughter of William Kimsey Jackson and Ethel Moore. Opal lost her mother when only a toddler. She was an independent, fiesty red-head, who ran off and got married, first to Rateus D'Vernon Capps. They had a son, Vernon Dale Capps. She had a daughter, Shirley Raylene Pyle, in Picher, Oklahoma. (Raylene's father was Forrest Ray Pyle.) She also had a son, Robert Carl Bishop, in Huntington, West Virginia. (Bob's father was Carl Edward Bishop.) She married 2nd an (unknown) Taylor, then on December 8, 1971 in Wise County, Virginia, she married her 3rd husband, Donald Maxwell Bolner.
