Age 96, passed away Wednesday, November 28, 2012. Paul was born June 6, 1916 in Mecosta, MI, the son of James B. and Rose May (Stimer) Durling. He served his country during WWII with the U.S. Navy and worked with the C.C.C. in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan for 4 years. Paul was an Electrical Draftsman with the Board of Water and Light and was a member of the IBEW #665. He walked a Godly life, trying to do God's work in everything he did. He was a devoted member of Mt. Hope United Methodist Church and helped with many a mission projects. Paul was an avid sportsman, especially fishing and hunting. Paul leaves behind what was his greatest accomplishment in his life: his family; his loving wife and life partner, Gladys; children, James (Kathy), Salli Lee (John) Farhat, Paula (Dean) Hedglen and Jerry (Donna); 18 grandchildren, 35 great grandchildren and 8 great great grandchildren; sisters, Ila Miner and Ruth Jean Rodriquez; brothers, Wesley (Betty) Durling. Funeral services will be conducted Monday, 11:00 a.m. at Mt. Hope United Methodist Church with Pastor Robert Cook officiating. Interment will follow at Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends Sunday from 4-6 p.m. at the Palmer, Bush and Jensen Family Funeral Homes, Lansing Chapel and Monday from 10:00 am until service time at the church.
