Mattie Mason Burke, age 80, of Bent Green St., Raleigh, NC, formerly of Asheboro, NC died Sunday, August 22, 2004 at Duke Health Raleigh Hospital in Raleigh.

Funeral services will be held 2:00 pm Wednesday, August 25, 2004 at Grace United Methodist Church with Rev. Lee Roy Hunt and Rev. Mark Jordan officiating. Burial will follow at Randolph Memorial Park.

Mrs. Burke was a native of Randolph County and a member of Grace United Methodist Church. She was retired from Walker Shoe Company and a former cafeteria worker at North and South Asheboro Middle Schools.

Surviving are husband William Bill Burke; sons: Eddie Burke of Raleigh, Roger Burke of Holden Beach, Billy Burke, Jr. of Burlington; daughters: Debbie Burke of Asheboro, Ann Sargent of Burlington; 11 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; 1 great great-grandchild; sisters Florence Lucas, Ruth Bray, Rachel Miller and Juanita Jessup all of Asheboro.

The family will receive friends Tuesday, August 24, 2004 from 7-9 pm at Pugh Funeral Home, 437 Sunset Ave., Asheboro, other times at the home of her daughter, Debbie Burke, 2173 Tot Hill Farm Rd., Asheboro, NC.

Memorial contributions may be made to American Diabetes Association, 434 Fayetteville Street Mall, Two Hannover Square, Suite 1600, Raleigh, NC 27601.
