She was the daughter of Robert and Parmelia (McKinney) Tucker and married Benjamin Franklin Shelton - 24 Jan 1909 - Lincoln Co., Tennessee. Her obituary follows:

Mrs. Hattie Modena Shelton of the Coldwater community died Sunday at Lincoln County Hospital after a brief illness. She was 80 years old and was the wife of Benjamin Franklin Shelton, who survives.

Services were Monday at Higgins Funeral Home with the Rev. Loyde Noble officiating. Burial was in Riverview Memorial Gardens.

Mrs. Shelton was a native of Lincoln County and a member of the Boonshill Cumberland Presbyterian Church.

Survivors, in addition to her husband, include two sons, Roy Shelton of Lincoln County and J. B. Shelton of Jackson, Tennessee; two sisters, Mrs. Bertie Dunman of Fayetteville, and Mrs. George Stewmon of Mulberry; seven grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.
