Andrew Dow Owens died after several lengthy illnesses. He was born in Bluestone, W.Va. to Kate Gott Owens and Caudle Clifford Owens. He entered the service as an Aviation Cadet in the U.S. Army Air Force in July 1944, serving until August 1946. In September of 1946, he began his college education at the St. Helena extension of the College of William and Mary in Norfolk. This was established specifically for servicemen returning from World War II. He is survived by his loving wife of 56 years, his daughter, son, two granddaughters, three grandsons; also, his sister-in-law and her husband.
