He completed his classes at Brigham Young University , graduating with a Bachelor of Science degree in Agronomy in 1958. He then attended graduate school at North Carolina State in Raleigh, North Carolina. He was awared a doctorate in Soils with a minor in statistics in 1961. After graduaton he was hired as a professor by Brigham Young University where he taught for many years i the Statistics dedpartment. He was chairman of the Statistics Department for a period of time during his teaching.
He served as an L.D.S. Bishop twice and as stake president in the Orem, Utah area.
