A Vigil service will be held at 7:00 P.M., Monday, December 20, 2004 in the Chapel of the Silvernale-Silha Funeral Home in Glendive. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 A.M., Tuesday, December 21, 2004 at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Glendive. Rite of Committal will be in the Dawson County Cemetery in Glendive. Silvernale-Silha Funeral Home of Glendive is entrusted with arrangements.
Fred was born in 1904 in Genoa, Wisconsin, the son of Joseph and Mary (Zgraggen) Dalsasso. He was educated in the Genoa schools and attended barber college in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. In 1925, Fred moved to Glendive. He was united in marriage to Mildred "Sis" E. Johnson on January 4, 1936. Fred owned and operated Dalsasso's Barber Shop and Cigar Store. He continued to run the business until his retirement in 1969. Fred was proud of the fact that he would cut Lemar Schock's hair and Lemar would return the favor - an arrangement that went on for 34 years after his retirement. Fred lived independently in his home until two weeks prior to his passing.
Fred was a member of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church and a 70 year member of the Glendive Elks Lodge #1324.
Fred's hobbies included fishing, hunting and gardening. He enjoyed dogsitting Vito.
Fred was preceded in death by his parents, six brothers and six sisters.
Survivors include his wife of 68 years, Mildred "Sis" of Glendive; his daughter, Jean Carney and her husband Dick of Glendive; three grandchildren: Bob and his wife Gabi and their children, Esther, Sylvia, Monica, Natalia and Christopher; Terri and her husband Mark and their children, Leilani, Stephanie, Katrielle, Ethan, and Tiana; and Pat and his wife Heidi; his sister-in-law, Mildred Dalsasso of Minnesota; numerous nieces and nephews including his special nephew, Bob Stortz of Glendive.
