John was the son of William M. Wells (0397) and Matilda C. (Harkins) Wells. He married Catherine Agnes Norton (0317) at the Presbyterian Church in Beverly, NJ on July 20, 1887. Catherine was born on September 7, 1867 and passed away on February 22, 1938. She was the daughter of Patrick and Catherine (Burke) Norton. John and Catherine Wells children were Edith, Matilda, William M., John M. Jr., Marie and Catherine Wells.
