Found in The State 14 August 1961: Earl A. Bishop, 64, of 3805 Emerson Road, Columbia, died at the Baptist Hospital early Sunday morning after an illness of several years. He was born January 1, 1897 in Berkeley County but lived here most of his life, where he was a textile worker. He was a member of the Faith Baptist church on Barnwell Street in Columbia. Mr. Bishop is survived by his wife, Mrs. Annie Mae Roberts Bishop of Columbia, five children by a former marriage to Mrs. Neomi McGill Bishop, Mrs. Willard (Mattie) Ferrell of West Columbia, James E. Bishop of Columbia, Ralph O. Bishop of West Columbia and Robert P. and Henry K. Bishop, both of the U. S. Navy; seven sisters, Mrs. Lula Brunson and Mrs. Mary Cumbee, both of Charleston, Mrs. Mae Steele of Alaska, Mrs. Rozina Morris of Florida, Mrs. Stella Brunson of Jamestown, Mrs. Olive Phillips of Cordsville and Mrs. Lucille Northrett of Newark, N. J.; four brothers, Houston Bishop of Walterboro, Jessie Bishop of Newberry, Aiken Bishop of Charleston and Edward Bishop of California, and several nieces and nephews...
