Harold Lee Brinkman, age 86, passed away on March 5 at UCSD, San Diego.

He was born March 2, 1922 in Riverside to John Richard Brinkman and Pearl May McFarland Brinkman. The family moved to Imperial Valley in 1928 and were in the dairy business.

Harold attended Heber, Calexico, Imperial and Mt. Signal grade schools and graduated from Central Union High School, El Cento in 1941. He served two years in the Army during World War II, mainly in Italy. Upon his return from service, he and his brother, Earl, began a farming operation and were in business for forty years.

In August of 1959, he married Betty Denham and they lived in the Silsbee area. Betty passed away in 1991. Harold's hobby involved horses and for the last ten years he worked for Roohide Saddelery.

Harold is survived by daughter, Dianna and her husband, Ron Saario of Visalia; son, Charles Douglas Brinkman of Salinas; daughter, Donna Warren of Riverside and son, Daniel J. Brinkman and wife, Ninki of Moreno Valley; brother-in-law Andy Denham and wife, Linda and his brother and sister-in-law, Earl and Anna Brinkman of El Centro; grandchildren, Tammie Glowcki (John), Richard Saario, Rhonda Swanson (Brent), Jeffrey Saario, Shelly Hatfield (Scott), Sarah Brinkman, Robert Horton, Brandon Horton, Shawna Remy (Tim), Jonathan Brinkman (Kristi) and Amber Brinkman.

He is also survived by nieces and nephews, Marsha Boutwell and Steve Denham, Renny Denham, Brent Denham, Pamela Paulson, Keith Hartsock, Kenneth Hartsock, Kathy Haskell, Marty Bell, Joyce Hartsock, Karen Forrester and Alan Brinkman; 27 great-grandchildren and numerous cousins in Illinois.

Harold was much loved by all his relatives and close associates.

Graveside Serives will be held at Evergreen Cemetery, El Centro on Friday, March 14 at 9 a.m. with the Rev. Richard Collin of Grace Lutheran Church officiating. Following this service a luncheon will be served at the home of Earl and Anna Brinkman.
