SAMUEL WESLEY GILL
Samuel Wesley Gill, 70, of East Genesee Street, Perry, died Monday, December 18, 2000 at home after a lengthy illness.
He was born in Buffalo on June 22, 1930, the son of the late Samuel and Mary Weller Gill Everhart. Samuel was a graduate of Perry Central School (1949). He ran Perry Radiator Service from 1970-1975; worked as a steel hauler for Youngstown Cartage in Ohio for 17 years; then was an over-the-road truck driver for IMX and recently for Container Port. Samuel was an Army veteran, involved in the Korean Conflict. He was a member of the Perry Emergency Ambulance, Teamsters Union, Fraternal Association of Steel Haulers; member of the National VFW and McKelton Post #350 American Legion in Perry (Post Commander 1963-1964); Wyoming County American Legion Finance Officer 1963-1964.
He is survived by his wife, Harriett Barber Gill (married 1954); daughter Barbara (Randy) Knowles of Perry; sons, James (Barbara) Gill of Wallingford, Connecticut and John Gill of Perry; sister, Beverly Crane of Gulfport, FL; 6 grandchildren; many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by aunt and uncle, James and Edna Gill, who raised him; brothers, Vernon and Harlan Gill; sister, Vivian Gill.
Calling hours are scheduled for Thursday, December 21, 2000, 2-4 & 7-9 p.m. at Eaton-Watson Funeral Home, 98 N. Main Street, Perry. Burial will be at Glenwood Cemetery, Perry. Memorials may be made to Hospice Family Care in Batavia or Perry Emergency Ambulance.
