Jerry Dale Collins, 56, of Greeneville, died Saturday evening at Laughlin Memorial Hospital.

Mr. Collins was a chemist and was known as a friend to area farmers, as well as international farmers through his volunteer efforts with ACDI-VOCA in Ethiopia, Slovakia, Bulgaria, and Croatia.

He was a member of the Church of Christ.

The family said that Mr. Collins respected his family and others, encouraging them to reach their potential and to value honesty and truth.

Survivors include his wife: Demetra C. Collins; two sons and daughters-in-law: Nick and Mindy Howard Collins of Fall Branch and Steve and Cindy Ray Collins of Mosheim; eight grandchildren: Laura Collins, Paul Collins, Gracie Collins, Mary Collins, and Sarah Collins, all of Fall Branch, and Beth Ann Collins, Rachel Collins, and Nolan Collins, all of Mosheim; his mother-in-law: Naomi Ramsey of Greene County; his sister and brother-in-law: Sue and Fred Parman of Greene County; two brothers and sisters-in-law: Ed and Ruby Collins and Sam and Kathleen Collins, all of Greene County; and several nieces and nephews.

He was a son of the late Elmer and Grace Humphreys Collins and was preceded in death by his first wife, Joyce Ramsey Collins.

The family will receive friends from 6-8 Tuesday evening in the fellowship hall at Church of Christ, 1133 Tusculum Blvd.

The funeral service will follow visitation at 8 o'clock at the church. Ken Yearwood will officiate.

A private graveside service will be held Wednesday in Cedar Creek Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Lynn Parman, Larry Parman, Dale Parman, Johnny Howard, Russell Burgner, Earnest "Junior" Jordon, and Ben Mays
