Married Hurshal G.Mackey on Nov. 23, 1928 in Ft.Smith,Ar.Dau.Norma,Ramona and Rohena.
------------------

Reba Bugg Mackey was the daughter of Mary Ida Elizabeth Hayes and Lon Jackson Bugg. She was the first born of ten children. Her childhood family home was located in what became Fort Chaffee in Sebastian County, Arkansas.

While finishing secondary school, she met Hurshal Gaines Mackey, her teacher who was close in age. They married November 23, 1928 and made their home with Hurshal's parents, Pearly Roberta Anderson and John Franklin Mackey in the Maness community of Sebastian County. Hurshal was an only child, quite opposite of Reba's large family of twelve.

As a young adult, Reba took "short courses" at Arkansas Tech and the University of Arkansas to earn credits for teaching credentials. Reba taught all grades in a two room school house at White Bluff, in Sebastian County, Arkansas. Three daughters were born to Reba and Hurshal: Norma Dean, Ramona Faye, and Rohena Marie Mackey. When the children were young, Fort Chaffee was established and the entire Mackey household, which included Hurshal's parents, relocated within Sebastian County to the Rye Hill/White Bluff community (1941).

In addition to teaching school and caring for their three daughters, Reba and Hurshal helped with the family's wholesale dairy business for a number of years. The elder Mackey's (Hurshal's parents) lived out their lives with Reba and Hurshal until each of their deaths. Until then, they lovingly shared in all things as an extended household.

As a personal passion, Reba regularly played piano and organ as a source of joy. She gave piano lessons to her children, grandchildren and many other students over the course of her life. She was church pianist for over 50 years at Rye Hill Baptist Church and was active in the Order of the Eastern Star (Harmony and Bonanza Chapters). Aside from church and family lunch, she faithfully observed Sunday as a day of rest.

Reba died on January 14, 1998 with great courage to be with her Lord and Savior. Her life's walk was a profound testimony for those who knew and loved her. She lived out her Christian faith in all aspects.

Reba Bugg Mackey's memorial was established in tribute to her life and in loving memory by her daughter, Rohena, and granddaughter, Gina.
