A feeling of sorrow came over the community, Saturday, with the unexpected announcement that Mr. and Mrs. George Ladd's little girl, six miles northeast of Traer, had died of diphtheria. Scarcely any one had heard of its sickness. It seems the disease was of the severest form. The baby has been unwell this week but has not contracted diphtheria as yet. Mrs. Ladd is down with the fearful disease and has been seriously sick. It was thought last night by Dr. Ladd that her condition was more favorable. It is sincerely to be hoped the disease will not spread further. Every precaution should be taken by all. The community are moved by the affliction that has befallen Mr. and Mrs. Ladd, and fervently trust the latter may continue to improve.
Daughter of George and Mary McKerral Ladd.
