Benjamin P Gahan, 63, a lifelong resident of Tomahawk, died suddenly at his home on West Somo avenue early last Wednesday evening.
Mr Gahan was a steam and boiler engineer employed by Sacred Heart hospital. He was born March 1, 1899 in Tomahawk to the late Benjamin J and Mary Gahan. He was married to Mirth Caldwell Sept 9, 1923 in Waukegan, Ill.
He was a veteran of World War I. He was a member of St Mary's Catholic church, the Knights of Columbus and Tomahawk Barracks No 1253, Veterans of World War I.
Survivors are his wife; one daughter, Mrs Donald (Margaret) Koth, Tomahawk; two brothers, Andrew Gahan, Eau Claire, and William Gahan, Milwaukee; two sisters, Mrs Fidelis Shorey, Rhinelander, and Mrs William Reich, Sr., Tomahawk; and four grandchildren.
Services were at 9 a.m. Saturday in St Mary's church, with the Rt Rev Msgr William Smits officiating. Burial was in Calvary cemetery. Nick and Sons funeral home was in charge. The rosary was recited Friday evening in the funeral home.
He was preceded in death by two sons and one brother.
Pallbeareers were Douglas Terzinski, Walter Ristan, Robert Koth, Lloyd Koth, Sr., William Reich Jr. and Roland Copiskey. Rites at the cemetery were conducted by the Rev Robert Reidmueller.
