John Astor Geurin was born to John and Sarah Lewis Geurin in Canton, Ga. He was the brother to Edna Duncan and Ruth Fox. When dad was just a boy they pulled up stakes from Sweetwater and moved to Cassville Ga. Granddaddy bought a farm, and that was there lively hood. Dad was educated at Mount Berry School in Rome Georgia were he lived and worked on the Dairy Farm; then attending college. Dad joined the Navy and sent money home to help support his mom and dad. My grandmother was diagnoised with cancer and died very soon. My aunts told me that when my dad reached the hospital and went into the room my grandmother died within minutes, as she was waiting for her beloved son.
When dad got out of the Navy he went to work for International Harvester. We lived in Parmaus NJ (mom's home)her mother lived with us. Every summer we would come to Georgia to visit my grandfather, I could tell my dad
wanted to move back home. When mom's family passed we moved back to Cartersville, dad got a transfer to Atlanta, and drove everyday from Cartersville, hey I do the same!
Daddy built an apartment in part of our house for his
dad to live in, my mom took such good care as if he was her
own dad, her father passed away when she was just four.
When dad retired, he built a house at the old home place, were he use to say, "It's good to be home". He was a wonderful father, husband, and provider. Dad was never sick, then one morning after not feeling very well he decided to go lay down, I can remember not being able to sleep that night, and just felt something wrong. I called them every day around 7:30 from work before I started my
day, dad always answered the phone, if I was late he would
tell mom, "Debbie has not called yet, think everything is OK"? Dad did not pick up the phone, mom did and said he was just not feeling to good, was going to lay down.
Dad died of an aneurysm around nine that morning, a part
of me also died. There will forever be a void in my life.
I was always daddy's little girl, I still am.

My Daddy's sister Edna sent me these words which gives me great comfort, "There is no grief here, just love, peace and happiness Have no fears for I will be waiting for you with open arms."

To Daddy,
A Fathers touch, A Daddy's kiss,A grieving Daughter, You're greatly missed. An empty house, An empty chair,A fathers love, No longer there.A broken heart, Tear filled eye,Another soul to fill the sky. Many memories in my mind,Some I laugh, Some I cry.The times we shared, The laughs we had,Things I miss when I think of you Dad.Realizing that's all I have to hold on too,Only memories, Of what once was you.Missing your laugh, I will never again hear. That is the reality that fills me with so much fear.No more smile on your face,No more warmth of your embrace. The last hug, The last kiss,The last "goodbye" leaves me with one last wish...To have you Dad, here today,Never to leave your Daughter this way.A Father's touch, A Daddy's kiss,A grieving Daughter, YOU'RE GREATLY MISSED!

I would like to say Thank You to Wes who transfered this
over to me. He took the first picture and added my dad.
All the notes and flowers always make me so very happy, it keeps the memory alive. God Bless you all!
